The Philippines and Morocco have become the first countries to adopt Aadhaar’s open source technology Architect. These two countries have started creating unique identification systems for their citizens like India.
The Modular Open Source Identity Platform (MOSIP) working at the Indian Institute of Technology Bangalore (IIT-B) and the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) are helping to implement Aadhaar. Thanks to this technology, these countries are independently developing platforms to make life easier for their citizens and provide them with legal recognition.
The official said on condition of anonymity, “Aadhaar 2.0 has five pillars. One of these is its global reach and helping other countries. We have given information about explaining Aadhaar to eight to ten countries in Asia and Africa. These countries were told how they can use the architecture of Aadhaar.
The official said that some countries including Togo, Kenya, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Singapore have shown their interest for such a unique identification platform. Brazil, Egypt, Mexico are in talks with the Government of India to understand the architecture of Aadhaar.
India’s efforts to encourage public digital infrastructure during the G20 meeting have yielded fruitful results. The G20 Digital Innovation Alliance (DIA) was launched by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. The emphasis was on digital public infrastructure, cyber security and digital skill development.
