India leading country among those affected by climate change

India’s contribution to global warming over the past century has been minimal, but India faces one of the greatest risks of climate change, from heat waves to cyclones, scientists from India, who have been part of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, have said. Due to this the urban and rural population of India had to face displacement.

He said that India has to adopt clean energy to reduce the impact of climate change. “Moving climate finance from rich countries should not be the only source and India should look at other options for climate finance,” he said.

Aditi Mukherjee of the Climate Change Impact Forum of the Consultative Group for International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) said the world needs to mobilize cooperation and funds to tackle the issue of climate change. The group has called for better collaboration between the public and the private sector to raise climate finance. Aditi Mukherjee chaired the IPCC AR6 working group.
