March 8 – BLiTZ. After the suppression of protesters trying to break into the parliament building in the center of Tbilisi and the use of tear gas by the police, mass arrests of those dissatisfied with the law on ionogens, adopted by the Georgian parliament the day before, began.

According to the Georgian TV channel Mtavari Arxi, most opposition representatives gathered on Rustaveli Avenue, where the country’s parliament is located. There was also information that among the detainees was the leader of the opposition Girchi party, Zuraba Japaridze, TASS reports.

Protests against the new law on foreign agents in Georgia began on Friday, March 7. Dissatisfied demand a revision of the document because of the similarity to the Russian version.
