March 5 – BLiTZ. The ketchup and condiment manufacturer has announced its intention to buy a new boat for sailor Elvis François, who survived in the Caribbean on a diet of ketchup, dried garlic and bouillon cubes for 24 days. The man went to sea in December 2021 on his old boat off the coast of Saint Martin, where he was repairing it. However, his inexperience in navigation led him to drift too far from shore and be unable to return.

For 24 days, the sailor survived on ketchup, dried garlic and bouillon cubes before his boat was discovered by a patrol who relayed the ship’s location to the Colombian Navy. The man was rescued and returned to his family.

The company has previously asked social media users to help them find the contacts of the Dominica seafarer in order to support him and his family. Representatives of the company said they contacted the sailor and discussed the best way to support. They also promised to buy him a new boat.
