Russia extradited Chinese citizen Xu Wenbin, who was accused of killing a Chinese police officer in 1996, to China. More on Friday, March 3 reported in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

“According to the information of the Chinese side, in January 1996, the defendant committed the murder of a policeman and fled from justice. He has been put on the international wanted list through the channels of Interpol,” said the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, Irina Volk.

According to her, Russian law enforcement officers found and detained Xu in December 2021 in the Volgograd region.

Moscow granted Beijing’s request for the transfer of the criminal. On March 3, representatives of Russia and China carried out the transfer of the accused at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

Earlier, on March 2, the Far Eastern Customs Administration said that a Chinese citizen was detained at the border between Russia and China, who tried to smuggle 6.3 million rubles and 7.8 thousand yuan home in her bag and suitcase. The funds were not declared.

The woman explained that she was afraid to declare the money because she was afraid of their possible theft along the way. The Ussuri Customs opened a criminal case against her under Part 2 of Art. 200.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Smuggling of cash on an especially large scale.”
