The Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) are shelling Energodar, explosions are heard near the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP). This was announced on March 3 by the chairman of the movement “We are with Russia”, a member of the main council of the Russian administration of the Zaporozhye region, Vladimir Rogov.

“The sounds of arrivals (at least seven) were heard most loudly by the citizens in the area of the industrial zone located near the ZNPP,” he wrote in his Telegram channel.

Rogov also noted that the shelling is carried out from NATO-style heavy artillery.

Earlier, on December 29, at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the backup power line was disconnected due to shelling.

In addition, IAEA experts present at the ZNPP reported that on December 30 they heard loud explosions near the plant. According to them, the source of these explosions was several hundred meters away from the object.

Later that day, Renat Karchaa, adviser to the general director of the Rosenergoatom concern, said that the damage to this line would not affect the operation of the power plant, as the second line was in operation.

On December 28, State Duma deputy Anatoly Wasserman said that if a nuclear accident occurs in Europe due to the actions of the Ukrainian military, then the European states that support Kyiv will be to blame. According to him, the Ukrainian military is systematically shelling the ZNPP “in the hope of causing a nuclear accident there.”

The Armed Forces of Ukraine repeatedly fired at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. So, on December 10, Ukrainian troops fired 15 shells near the coastline of Energodar in the Zaporozhye region. On November 20, Ukrainian militants launched 15 strikes on the territory of the station.

Zaporozhye NPP is the largest NPP in Europe in terms of the number of units and installed capacity. The object became the property of the Russian Federation following the results of the referendum on the reunification of the Zaporozhye region with Russia. Moscow emphasized that the departure of the Russian military threatens to be a disaster, since Kyiv could use the station for provocations.
