March 2 – BLiTZ. The day before in Greece there was a railway accident. The Proto Theme portal published an audio recording in which Intercity 62 drivers and Larisa’s station chief discuss actions before the accident.
The head of the station gave the wrong instructions to the drivers, as a result of which the train went into the opposite direction and collided with a freight train. However, several technical problems were recorded.
The stationmaster did not notice the mistake and did not correct it. The machinists trusted his order and did not doubt their actions.
Kostas Karamanlis, the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, who retired earlier, was replaced by Minister of State Yorgos Gerapetritis.
