At the same time, it is noted that in both cities the air temperature in winter turned out to be 1.2 degrees above the climatic norm.

If we talk about Moscow, then the main contribution to the “warm” winter in the capital, according to weather forecasters, was made in February, which became 1.9 degrees warmer than the norm, and January – 1.5 degrees warmer. At the same time, December was close to the norm – the air temperature this month exceeded the norm by 0.3 degrees. At the same time, precipitation in Moscow fell more than usual – 117% of the norm.

In St. Petersburg, December, according to weather forecasters, turned out to be about one degree colder than normal. However, the following months, on the contrary, turned out to be warmer: January – by 2.5 degrees, February – by 1.9. In terms of precipitation, winter in the city exceeded the average long-term indicators by 8%.

Earlier in the day, Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said that the average monthly temperature above the norm is expected in 60% of Russia in March. According to him, the temperature will be above the climatic norm in the territories of the Southern, North Caucasian federal districts, the Lower Volga, the south of the Urals, Western Siberia, Central Siberia, and the Far East. However, the arrival of early spring is not worth waiting for, the meteorologist added.

Prior to this, on February 21, Phobos Center specialist Mikhail Leus said that, according to data estimates over the past 30 years, the average date for the arrival of spring has shifted a week ahead. Now, as a rule, climatic spring comes to the capital on March 20, the forecaster said.
