On March 1, an air alert was announced in most of Ukraine. This is evidenced by the data of the official resource for alerting citizens.

Alarms were sounded in the central and eastern parts of the country, including in Kyiv and the region. After about 20 minutes, the air raid alert was cancelled.

The publication “Strana.ua” reported that at the same time explosions were heard in the city of Kremenchuk, Poltava region, as well as in the territory of the Sumy region. The head of the administration of the Poltava region, Dmitry Lunin, also announced the danger of a missile attack in his Telegram.

There was no official information from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation about strikes against these territories.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that an air raid alert was announced in Kyiv due to a small balloon. Local authorities said they had eliminated the object.

This is not the first time that spherical flying objects have been noticed in the sky over Kiev. So, according to Ukrainian media, a similar incident occurred on February 14. The appearance of balloons was recorded in the Ukrainian capital and over other territories of the country.

Russian troops began to strike at critical objects in Ukraine from October 10. As Russian President Vladimir Putin explained then, this was a response to the terrorist actions of the Kyiv regime, in particular on the Crimean bridge.

On February 24, 2022, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
