Deputy Head of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine Anna Malyar said that the situation on the entire front line is difficult for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). She wrote about this on February 27 in her Telegram channel.
According to her, the most difficult situation is in the Artemovsk direction, where the Russian army “uses the tactics of exhaustion and total destruction.”
Earlier in the day, Ian Gagin, adviser to the acting head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), said that Russian forces had taken control of all roads to Artemovsk (Ukrainian name – Bakhmut). According to him, the troops of the Russian Federation violated and stopped the supply of ammunition to the garrison of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stopped the rotation and replenishment of enemy manpower.
Also on February 27, the acting head of the DPR, Denis Pushilin, said that significant changes had taken place in the Artyomovsk direction in recent days. He noted that the liberation of several settlements near Artemovsk made it possible to reach Khromov and the village of Bogdanovka, which creates good conditions for encircling the enemy.
In addition, Igor Kimakovsky, adviser to the acting head of the DPR, said that Russian forces are fighting almost in the center of Artemovsk. According to him, it is premature to talk about the operational encirclement of the city, however, all routes to Artemovsk are under the fire control of the RF Armed Forces.
Prior to that, on February 24, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the situation in the eastern direction of hostilities is very difficult and painful. At the same time, the state of affairs in the southern direction is “very dangerous.”
The special operation to protect the Donbass, the beginning of which Russian President Vladimir Putin announced on February 24, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
