Presidential elections remain an integral part of the development of Russian society and the political system, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted earlier. At the same time, the authors of “MK” recalled the existence of two models for holding planned elections “in not quite peaceful times”: postponement for an indefinite period according to the British model and holding elections according to the American one.
The Kremlin is now giving clear signals that they have chosen the American model. At the same time, Peskov notes that “there are no pre-election or electoral moods in the Kremlin,” just as there are no statements by Putin about nominating or not nominating his candidacy.
At the same time, journalists noted that Russian society now fully supports the course of the current president in matters of security and the economy. In an “absolutely monolithic” society, it is Putin who “may be the only real presidential candidate.”
Approximately the same main direction in the development of Russian politics was chosen for Putin’s new presidential term three years ago during the constitutional reform.
