In February, scammers stepped up, offering employment on major marketplaces, including Ozon and Wildberries. Over the current month, the number of such messages sent via WhatsApp, Telegram and other instant messengers has doubled compared to January, follows from monitoring data from R-Vision (which develops cybersecurity systems).
The scheme is not new – back in the summer of 2022, they began to use it, luring victims with easy money on AliExpress. In autumn, the “range” of pseudo-employment expanded due to the Russian marketplaces Ozon and Wilberries, Izvestia wrote.
The current activation of scammers is associated with the peculiarities of the labor market, experts say.
“February and March are one of the most active periods of job search. With this in mind, the number of scams related to vacancies is increasing, ”Pyotr Kutsenko, head of the Endpoint product at R-Vision, told Izvestia.
People often devote long weekends to actively looking for a new job. This year they fell on February 23-26. During these four days, the Izvestia correspondent received several offers of “employment” at once.
They came from foreign numbers – from Nigeria and Malaysia. Their authors claimed that the marketplaces are looking for hundreds of employees “to perform tasks in social networks.” Experience is not important, the main requirement is age from 23 to 60 years, earnings – up to 600 thousand rubles per month.
