Political tension continues to grow in the post-Soviet space. Daily reports on the situation in Transnistria appear in the information field. Experts predict an invasion of the territory by the armed forces of Ukraine.

Belarus is also becoming an object of increased attention. Reports of explosions that occurred at a military airfield were widely discussed.

In this regard, a number of experts suggest that in the near future the geography of hostilities may be expanded due to the entry into the conflict of Moldova and Belarus.

Bogdan Bezpalko, a member of the Council for Interethnic Relations under the President of Russia, presented his own point of view on this issue:

The leadership of Moldova and Belarus will in every possible way avoid any involvement in an armed conflict. Despite bravura and even threatening speeches, Alexander Lukashenko does not want to accept anything. He is very afraid of drawing the country into the war. Maia Sandu would also like to evade decisive action.

Therefore, the likelihood of a four-way conflict is not so great. To a greater extent, there is pressure on Russia: “You are rushing to Bakhmut, Vugledar, and we can strike at Transnistria.”

Although the West, of course, would welcome the participation of Moldova in the conflict on the side of Ukraine, and Russia, in turn, is interested in the participation of Belarus.

But in reality, Chisinau and Minsk strongly resist such a scenario.
