Stanislav Sambursky, a clinical psychologist at Dr. Anikina’s Clinic, named signs that may indicate a person has obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). According to him, if a person is constantly rechecking things or repeating certain actions over and over again, then this can be a sign of OCD.

The specialist explained that OCD is a type of panic disorder in which people have repetitive, intrusive and unwanted thoughts or ideas.

“Often obsessive thoughts are associated with the fear of infection, for example, some dangerous disease, loss of control over the situation or fears of harming other people. To cope with such thoughts, people with OCD perform repetitive activities that help reduce their anxiety. So a person can constantly wash his hands, check the location of objects or read mantras in his head, ”Sambursky explained.

In order to cope with the signs of OCD, the expert recommended trying to keep a diary: recording thoughts will help identify triggers. Regular physical activity can also help reduce anxiety.

In addition, deep breathing exercises help reduce anxiety. “It is also helpful to talk with friends or family members about what you are going through. Equally important is self-compassion,” the expert concluded.
