February 27 – BLiTZ. The People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) has issued a strong condemnation of the overflight of a US Air Force plane over the Taiwan Strait. This fact became known on Monday, January 27. The PLA gave its assessment of the provocation in the WeChat messenger.
The report said that the PLA Combat Command East Zone deployed forces to monitor the flight, the situation is under control. However, the Americans, by their actions, pose a threat to security in the region and disrupt stability in the Taiwan Strait area.
“We strongly protest against this,” Shi Yi, spokesman for the PLA’s Eastern Combat Command Zone, was quoted in the statement.
Recall that the situation in the strait escalated sharply in August 2022 after the visit of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. Immediately after that, the Chinese armed forces began large-scale military exercises along its coast and carried out rocket firing with the participation of aircraft and navy.
