The ship “Aida Cosma”, which flies the flag of Italy and is operated by the “Aida Cruises” company, launched its first voyage to the State of Qatar on the sixteenth of last January. passengers in addition to the crew of 1636 people.
It is noteworthy that the cruise sector in Qatar has contributed to strengthening Qatar’s position as a leading destination for marine tourism in the region, as the sector supports the growth of the national economy in Qatar by increasing tourism spending and providing more employment and business opportunities.
Since the return of cruise tourism in the season 2021-2022 after it was halted due to the Corona (Covid-19) pandemic, the cruise sector in Qatar has recorded significant growth, as Doha Port received about 8,000 visitors last December, most of whom came from Italy and Russia, while the total The number of visitors during the previous season was 100,500 passengers.
The new Doha Port passenger terminal can accommodate up to 12,000 passengers per day. The port is strategically located in the heart of Doha, minutes away from some of the city’s most popular attractions including the Qatar National Museum, Doha Corniche and Souq Waqif.
