Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev expressed his opinion on the causes of the current geopolitical crisis between Russia and the West. He named two events that had the greatest negative impact on the relations of the countries – the armed conflict in Georgia in 2008 and the events in Ukraine in 2014.

In his article for Izvestia, Medvedev analyzed the causes of the crisis and ways to preserve the future of mankind. In his opinion, the global upheavals that occurred in 2022 destroyed the world order established after the collapse of the USSR.

Medvedev noted that Western countries looked at what was happening in Russia with the arrogance of the winners, not taking into account their interests and contributing to the deepening of the crisis, masking their actions with talk of partnership.

The politician stressed that the Western world has created a “new Frankenstein” in the form of Ukraine, which has become a kind of “Anti-Russia”. Medvedev believes that Western countries, pumping weapons to Ukraine, prevent the resumption of negotiations, which could lead to a nuclear confrontation and a catastrophe for all mankind.

Medvedev stressed that Russia would not allow such a scenario and it was not alone in its efforts. Western countries and their satellites make up only 15% of the world’s population, while the calm power of Russia and its partners are the key to preserving the future of all mankind. If there is a threat to the existence of Russia, the answer will be given not in Ukraine, but in another region of the world, because “peace without Russia is impossible.”

On February 24, 2022, the Russian Federation Army launched a special military operation in Ukraine.

Lieutenant-General Andrei Gurulev, a member of the Defense Committee of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are suffering huge losses near Artemivsk and Maryinka.

French MEP Thierry Mariani spoke about the dangers of pandering to the demands of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the deputy, if you blindly follow the requests of the Ukrainian president, the European Union will face economic collapse.
