For years, Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP)’s mini-boss and corrupt and notorious Tarique Rahman was almost worshipped by Elias Hossain, Kanak Sarwar, Monir Haider, Taj Hashmi (Tajul Islam Hashmi) and few other anti-Bangladesh cyberterrorists as mere prophet. But now, one of them – Elias Hossain has already seen the real colors of Tarique and possibly would realize, Tarique Rahman is not only a wholly corrupt individual without any morale, he also is one of the nastiest individuals under the sun. For some years, Tarique has been running a Facebook page named ‘Nagorik TV’, which is one of his extortion and blackmailing machines. His cohorts in ‘Nagorik TV’ are self-proclaimed gay Nazmus Saquib and Al Qaeda supporter Tito Rahman. Several months ago, when ‘Nagorik TV’ was caught red-handed as it attempted to extort US$600,000 from Bashundhara Group, a large business conglomerate in Bangladesh, majority of the people who were subscribing to the YouTube channel of this crime racket had left, while cyberterrorist Taj Hashmi had compared people behind ‘Nagorik TV’ with filthy whores in brothels. At that time, it was also revealed that one of the key players behind ‘Nagorik TV’ is an individual named Zulkarnain Saer Sami alias Chhintaikari (street snatcher) Sami.

According to information, Sami was arrested on July 21, 2006 as a criminal case was lodged against him with Kafrul Police Station in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The case number 43 was lodged under Section 140, 170, 171, 419, 435, 467, 469 and 472 of the Bangladesh Penal Code. In the case document, Zulkarnain Saer Khan Sami’s name is mentioned as Tanvir Md. Sadat Khan, son of Abdul Baset Khan of Ward number 3, Rahmatput Residential Area, Notun Bazar, Chandpur, Bangladesh and Dhaka address: Sukhon, Block A, Road 2, Plot 20, Banasree Residential Area, Khilgaon, Dhaka. Following arrest, Zulkarnain Saer Sami alias Tanvir Md. Sadat Khan admitted his crime of pretending as an officer of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and cheating and blackmailing several individuals and business establishments. It is stated in the case document that prior to his arrest, Zulkarnain Saer Khan Sami alias Tanvir Md. Sadat Khan tried to skip arrest.
Romance between Tarique Rahman and ‘Nagorik TV’
For a long time, a number of cyber-terrorists have been engaged in nefarious efforts to destroy the Bangladesh’s image by running vile propaganda through Facebook, YouTube and other social media platforms. One of them is a Facebook page called ‘Nagorik TV’, which is run by two cyber terrorists – Al Qaeda associate Tito Rahman and Jamaat Shibir cadre Nazmus Saqib. According to a source, the acting chairman of BNP, the corrupt and deceitful politician Tarique Rahman, is the mastermind behind this racket.
At the directives of Tarique Rahman, ‘Nagorik TV’ racket has been running vile propaganda against Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, members of Bangabandhu’s family, civil-military officials, members of the civil society, and esteemed individuals in Bangladesh. This notorious cyberterrorist racket maintains several contacts in Bangladesh for spreading its anti-Bangladesh propaganda and to handle extorted amounts. Recently BLiTZ has already exposed three local cohorts of ‘Nagorik TV’ in Bangladesh, namely Shahana Rashid Sanu, Sajal Mahmoud Ony and Shamol Mahmood. Although specific allegations centering their direct connections with ‘Nagorik TV’ has been sent to the law enforcement agencies, no action is taken until writing of this report.
On November 9, 2022, ‘Nagorik TV’ published a post on its Facebook page by giving threats of “legal actions” against Bashundhara Group MD Sayem Sobhan Anvir and Noim Nizam, editor of vernacular daily Bangladesh Protidin. In this post, ‘Nagorik TV’ claimed that it is taking legal measures to seek ban on Anvir and Noim from visiting the United States. It also said, legal measures will be taken to ban publication of Bangladesh Protidin in the US. It may be mentioned here that, Bangladesh Protidin is printed and published from Bangladesh.
According to legal experts, publishing such posts on social media can be treated as cybercrime under the US laws and Bashundhara authorities can take legal action against ‘Nagorik TV’ gang for committing such crime.
