A resident of Indian state of Assam, who has been using the disguise of the owner of a website named ‘Times of Assam’ has been running anti-India activities by joining hands with pro-China Maoist terrorist groups based in Myanmar and Nepal, as well as Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA), a jihadist outfit run by Rohingya Muslims. This man has also been writing outrageous anti-Bharat propaganda stuff in Pakistani publications in his own name or by using pseudonyms.
According to information, Dhruba Jyoti Deka, a self-style journalist who runs a suspicious website named ‘Times of Assam’ wrote an article titled “Mainland India’s claim over Assam, Tripura, northeast states and Jammu and Kashmir is illegitimate and illegal” in Pakistani newspaper The Lahore Times on April 22, 2022. In this article, The Lahore Times introduces him stating “Dhruba Jyoti Deka is the Chief Editor of Times of Assam, based in Rajgarh Road, Rajgarh, Guwahati, 781005, India”.
In the first paragraph of this article, Deka criticized the ‘Citizenship Amendment Act’ stating: “The reason why Assam or Tripura is up against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Act passed by the Union of India under the efforts of Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party and those extremist Hindu thugs are very different from the reason why the rest of India, including most Indian Universities, are protesting. Assam or Tripura does not want this Act at all -no matter its Hindus or Muslims. The rest of mainland India is protesting because the act does not cover Muslims and there is a sea of difference between these two reasons. Below are some of the reasons why every citizen of mainland India should stand with Assam and the rest of the northeast against this act in totality and not because it does not include Muslims”.
Mainland India? Wherefrom this Assamese man Dhruba Jyoti Deka invented this terminology? From enemies of India? Isn’t this terminology itself is tantamount to sedition and high-treason? Should Indian authorities, especially the intelligence agencies have already interrogated Deka and find out his connections and affiliations in Pakistan, Nepal and Myanmar?
According to information, Dhruba Jyoti Deka was working as a key comrade of Paresh Baruah, fugitive kingpin of United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA). Later Baruah ceased relations with Deka as he was stealing cash from both Paresh Baruah and ULFA members. As being ousted from the circle of Paresh Baruah, Deka succeeded in establishing connections with Pakistani spy agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) by using his identity of being the husband of a Muslim woman. It may be mentioned here that, Deka’s wife is Muslim who hails from a radicalized Muslim family.
One of the correspondents of Weekly Blitz has succeeded in extracting sensational information from Dhruba Jyoti Deka by concealing identity of a journalist. Deka told Weekly Blitz correspondent that he has been regularly visiting Jamalpur district in Bangladesh without visa and holding meetings with Rohingya Muslims as well as members of a notorious jihadist outfit named Ansar Al Islam. He also admitted of visiting Myanmar and Nepal and regularly meeting Maoist terrorist groups in those countries. He even did not hesitate in openly proclaiming himself of having “regular communications” with Pakistani espionage agency Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI).
It may be mentioned here that Ansar Al Islam is a franchisee of Al Qaeda, which also maintains liaison with Hijbul Mujahedin, another Islamist terrorist group based in West Bengal in India.
The US Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service, through its Rewards for Justice (RFJ) office, is offering a reward for information on the terrorist attack in Dhaka, Bangladesh that left US citizen Avijit Roy dead and his wife, Rafida Bonya Ahmed, seriously injured.
The Secretary of State has authorized a reward of up to US$5 million for information leading to the arrest or conviction in any country of anyone involved in the murder of Roy and the attack on Ahmed.
On February 26, 2015, Roy and Ahmed, both Bangladesh-born US citizens, were visiting Dhaka to attend a book fair when they were attacked by assailants with machetes. Roy was killed and Ahmed survived with critical injuries.
This investigation remains open, and we are seeking information that will assist law enforcement agencies in bringing to justice the perpetrators of this heinous terrorist attack. A total of six individuals were charged, tried, and convicted in Bangladesh. Two of the convicted conspirators, Syed Ziaul Haque (aka Major Zia) and Akram Hussain were tried in absentia and remain at large.
Two related groups have claimed responsibility. Ansarullah Bangla Team, an al-Qa’ida-inspired terrorist group based in Bangladesh, claimed responsibility for the attack. Shortly thereafter, Asim Umar, the now-deceased leader of al-Qa’ida in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS), posted a widely circulated video claiming that AQIS followers were responsible for the attack on Roy and Ahmed.
In 2016, the Department of State designated AQIS as a Foreign Terrorist Organization under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist under Executive Order 13224, which provides authority to sanction terrorists and those who support terrorists or terrorist acts.
For many months, Dhruba Jyoti Deka has been actively involved with narco-trafficking rackets within India-Myanmar border while he also is helping Rohingyas in illegally entering Indian territory and hide under his supervision. According to another source, Deka is also involved in circulation of counterfeit Indian currency bills, which he receives from his ISI counterpart in Myanmar.
It may be mentioned here that, Times of Assam is an illegal publication without any office or contact number. The only information about this illegal publication is available on its CONTACT page, where it states: “Times of Assam, Rajgarh Road, Rajgarh, Guwahati, 781005, India”.

Dhruba Jyoti Deka also runs his personal website where he claims to be a “professional cyber security adviser” and a “hacker” and states: “Hello. Myself Dhruba Jyoti Deka.
