Independence of India is not just the effort of one group but the entire nation. During the time of British India, India was divided by so many factors. Division of society was the most important front of British Raj. They divided on the basis of religion, caste, and color too.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, Lala Lajpat Rai, Bhagat Singh, Raj Guru and many more. Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar is one of the most glorious leaders of lower castes in India. He is the one known as the lawmaker of India too.
Dr. Ambedkar is also known as Babasaheb Ambedkar, in today’s era a beacon of light for Dalits in India. Though all castes whether upper or lower consider them to be their ideal but the politics in India made him a leader of lower and underprivileged castes within India.
Ambedkar, in his school days, faced a lot of persecution by his upper caste school-mates. He was not allowed to sit alongside other upper caste people. He always used to carry his own mat made of jute. Just imagine the kind of persecution he faced that too during his school days.
Later Ambedkar is the guy who went to London School of Economics and Political Science and earned his doctorate in law there. After this, he earned a position as an intellectual in India. He was known to be one of the most learned people in India. This is the reason Pandit Nehru, who also belongs to an upper caste, nominated him for Congress Party’s rank.
Right after independence, when India got freedom from British Raj, there was a grave need of a new constitution to be made by Indians. Pandit Nehru and all Congress party nominated Dr. Ambedkar as the chairman of the constitution drafting committee of India.
This was one of the most significant steps the ruling elite took at that point in time where castism and untouchability were on the peek. Pandit Nehru’s vision was very clear and bold towards castism and untouchability.
Today, on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar, the whole nation is celebrating this day. Dr. Ambedkar, today, is a national hero and why not should he be treated as a hero. He did not just fight the battle of castism and racism but the movement of freedom too.
Indian National Congress Party’s spokesperson Anshu Awasthi said “Dr. Ambedkar is our ideal. His battleground was social and as well as he was in favor of economic development of everyone too. Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar was a great man. For the nation’s building, he sacrificed his luxuries and even self and came from London back to India to serve the nation. He brought a very unique kind of constitution not with fanaticism but with simplicity. He never gave us anything which looks like retaliation to other upper castes. His inspiration from Gandhi made him a thinker not just for industrialization but for rural development too. If Dr. Ambedkar was not there we would have a different approach towards society. Today he reminds us of the right of equality in the society. Babasaheb will never be forgotten. But, unfortunately, BJP on one side take Babasaheb’s name and other hand remains biased towards upper caste. Dalit’s are being tortured and persecuted in Modi government significantly, this is the report of NCRB(National Crime Record Bureau).”
