In a case that highlights both the perils of unchecked immigration and the alarming erosion of justice in Europe, a 20-year-old American woman faces prosecution in Germany for defending herself against an alleged sexual assault. This week, her trial begins, and she could face up to 10 years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a 64-year-old African migrant, Alem Tekeste, who she says attacked her at the Kaiserslautern train station in June 2024. The facts of the case are not only disturbing-they should serve as a wake-up call for American leaders, particularly President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly promised to stand up for American citizens, no matter where they are in the world.
According to reports, the young woman-an American citizen born in Germany and working as a civilian contractor at Ramstein Air Base-was walking with Tekeste when he allegedly grabbed her buttocks. She warned him off by brandishing a knife she was carrying. When Tekeste grabbed her arm, she broke free and stabbed him once in the chest. The man died from the wound, and the woman promptly turned herself in to police, stating clearly that her intention was not to kill but to protect herself from a sexual assault.
Yet despite her immediate cooperation and the context of her action, German prosecutors have chosen not to believe her account of self-defense. They have charged her with “bodily harm resulting in death,” a charge which can carry up to a decade behind bars. It is a shocking decision that defies not only common sense, but the core principle of justice: the right to defend oneself from harm.
Let’s be blunt. The reason this woman is in this situation at all is due to Europe’s decade-long flirtation with reckless immigration policies. Germany, in particular, has absorbed millions of migrants from the Middle East and Africa, many of whom arrive with little to no vetting, and with values and behaviors that clash violently with Western norms-especially regarding the treatment of women.
Consider the 2023 case in Hamburg, where nine migrants from Afghanistan, Armenia, Egypt, Iran, Kuwait, Libya, and Poland were convicted of gang-raping a 15-year-old girl. Shockingly, only one of them received prison time. The rest got probation, as if such brutality could somehow be excused or rehabilitated. This is the climate of “justice” in modern Germany, where actual criminals walk free and victims are left with trauma-and now, in this case, prosecution.
So it’s no surprise that a young woman walking alone in such an environment might carry a knife. It wasn’t paranoia-it was prudence. The growing number of migrant-related assaults on women in Germany has been well-documented and deeply alarming. The woman likely knew she could not rely on the German government for protection. Worse, she probably knew that the government would side with her assaulter if anything went wrong. And now, here we are.
But this isn’t just a German tragedy. This is an American crisis. Because while the German justice system has every right to prosecute crimes within its borders, the United States also has an obligation to protect its citizens-especially when those citizens are being unfairly targeted in foreign jurisdictions for defending themselves.
This is where Donald Trump must act.
During his presidency, Trump made it clear that the protection of American citizens was a top priority. He brought home hostages from North Korea. He secured the release of wrongly imprisoned Americans from Turkey. He stood firm when foreign governments attempted to take advantage of American citizens. If he truly intends to lead again-and if he wants to reinforce the principle of American sovereignty-this is the moment to speak out.
This young woman’s case is not just about a stabbing in Germany. It’s about whether being an American citizen means anything anymore. Do we still believe in the concept of national protection? Or are we content to let globalist bureaucrats in Berlin determine the fate of our people?
Germany’s approach to criminal justice has been warped by political correctness and a pathological fear of offending migrant communities. But Trump is not bound by those illusions. He should use this case to make a broader point about the dangers of globalism, the collapse of European law and order, and the importance of national dignity.
By demanding fair treatment for this young woman, Trump would not only be doing the right thing-he would be setting a precedent. He would be sending a message to every American citizen abroad that their country has their back. He would also be telling foreign governments: if you target our people, you will hear from us.
And let’s not forget the symbolism. If Joe Biden’s administration continues to remain silent, then Trump has yet another opportunity to contrast his bold leadership with Biden’s passivity. Americans are tired of watching their fellow citizens be treated like disposable pawns in the global chess game of migration, diplomacy, and left-wing ideology.
Furthermore, this case speaks to a deeper, more personal kind of fear: that women-especially young, vulnerable women-are being sacrificed at the altar of political correctness. In today’s Germany, it seems, carrying a knife to protect yourself from assault is a greater crime than the assault itself. And when the assaulter is an African migrant, the chances of being believed-let alone defended-plummet to nearly zero.
That cannot be the world we accept for American citizens.
Trump should not only demand the woman’s release but make this a central issue in his campaign: the restoration of American strength abroad. He must make it clear that American lives and liberties are not negotiable, and that our people will not be subject to foreign courts more concerned with appeasing globalist ideologies than delivering justice.
This case is not just a footnote in an otherwise chaotic world. It is a moral line in the sand. Will we stand by as our citizens are criminalized for refusing to be victims? Or will we act-loudly, firmly, and unapologetically?
The American people are watching. So is the rest of the world. And if Trump is the man he says he is-the one who will make America great again-then the time to act is now.
