Trump set to impose travel ban

President Donald Trump is going to be extremely tough on radical Islamic nations as well as Muslim countries which patronize militancy, violent extremism and pave the path to Caliphate on Christians, Jews, Hindus, Buddhists and other Muslim nations. Muslim rights groups in the United States, including the ‘American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee’ have already started screaming at the signing of a new Executive Order titled ‘Protecting the United States from Foreign Terrorists and Other National Security and Public Safety Threats’, targeting individuals from Muslim nations, which is far wider than the 2017 travel ban imposed on several Muslim and Arab countries. Following the signing of this Executive Order, US missions can now deny visa requests and remove individuals who already are legally staying in the United States.

According to a statement issued by the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, the new directive signed by President Trump instructs the Secretary of State, the Attorney General, the Secretary of Homeland Security, and the Director of National Intelligence to submit a report within 60 days identifying countries whose vetting and screening processes are deemed too deficient. That determination could trigger either partial or full suspensions on admitting nationals from these listed countries, as authorized by section 212(f) of the INA (8 U.S.C. 1182(f)).

It further stated, the new order goes a step further than its 2017 predecessor by adding language that opens the door to ideological exclusion by allowing the government to deny visas or entry based on perceived political opinions, religious beliefs, or cultural backgrounds:

“Section 1. Policy and Purpose.

(a) It is the policy of the United States to protect its citizens from aliens who intend to commit terrorist attacks, threaten our national security, espouse hateful ideology, or otherwise exploit the immigration laws for malevolent purposes.

(b) … And the United States must ensure that admitted aliens and aliens otherwise already present in the United States do not bear hostile attitudes toward its citizens, culture, government, institutions, or founding principles, and do not advocate for, aid, or support designated foreign terrorists and other threats to our national security”.

Muslim-Arab rights groups further said, “the order authorizes the Department of Homeland Security to remove individuals from these identified countries who are already legally in the United States, again using ideology as a basis for removal. Such practices echo some of the most troubling chapters in our nation’s history, when the government barred and scrutinized people solely for their viewpoints or associations rather than any credible security concern”.

Following signing of the new Executive Order on January 20, 2025, citizen of Bangladesh and Pakistan in particular shall be under strict vetting as Bangladesh currently is witnessing rise of radical Islamic and jihadist forces, where militants and terrorists are openly waving flags of Al Qaeda, Islamic State and Palestinian Hamas, while flags of the United States and Israel (a key ally of the US) are being publicly disrespected by Islamist-jihadist cohorts of the current regime in Dhaka, which is led by Trump-hater Muhammad Yunus. Similarly, Pakistan already is known in the world for its decades-old practices of sponsoring, harboring and funding terrorism, while its army and intelligence agency – Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI) are known for running global terrorism.

It may be mentioned here that on September 24, 2024, during an event organized in his honor by the Clinton Global Initiatives, Trump-hater Muhammad Yunus introduced his Islamist comrades as “mastermind” behind the bloody Islamist coup that forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee Bangladesh on August 5 and subsequently opened the door for him to become the head of the country under direct support of Bangladesh Armed Forces. Onwards, Bangladesh went into the tight grips of Islamists, jihadists and Caliphate-mongers while barbaric atrocities began on Hindus, Christians and religious minorities. As the situation turned extremely volatile, Donald Trump during the Diwali festival tweeted condemning the “barbaric violence against Hindus, Christians, and other minorities in Bangladesh. But Yunus and his administration outrightly dismissed Trump’s statement as “lobbyist activities” or “misinformation”. On November 6, 2024, Yunus’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam suggested that Donald Trump had been misinformed about the persecution of minorities in Bangladesh. This outright rejection of the allegations was accompanied by accusations against Indian and independent media outlets like Blitz for allegedly spreading misinformation.

Subsequently, Yunus’s administration issued orders granting impunity to perpetrators of heinous crimes against Hindus and other religious minorities. This includes murder, rape, abduction, arson, and other atrocities. By doing so, the regime has effectively abetted crimes against humanity, further destabilizing the nation and rejecting Trump’s call, which clearly proves –Muhammad Yunus has pushed Bangladesh under absolute control of Islamists, jihadists, religious bigots, anti-Semites and enemies of the United States. Unfortunately, Yunus and his cronies continue getting unconditional support from the Democratic Party-inclined US Embassy in Bangladesh even after President Trump’s inauguration.

It may be mentioned here that, in 2016, Yunus referred to Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton as a “solar eclipse … black days” and criticized him harshly. Yunus’s connections with influential Democratic figures, including Bill and Hillary Clinton, Obama, and Soros, have positioned him as an asset to Islamist-jihadist forces and Bangladesh Army Chief General Waker Uz Zaman.

These relationships also bolster his influence in global politics and financial ventures, including Grameen America. Since 2007, Hillary Clinton has been an active supporter of Yunus, even attempting to position him as a potential leader of Bangladesh.

Muhammad Yunus further said that the 2016 election “became the victim of the wrong type of politics and advised Trump to adopt “a more generous outlook” in his role as president to “build bridges, not walls”. Through this statement, Yunus categorically expressed his nervousness anticipating investigation into his deep-rooted connections with Clintons – both with their Clinton Foundation and Clinton Global Initiatives as well as Hillary Clinton’s direct role behind Grameen America and other financial ventures of Yunus as well as desperate support of Bill and Hillary Clinton in promoting image and businesses of Yunus in the world. Since 2007, Hillary Clinton has been repeatedly attempting to see her friend Yunus as the head of the government in Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, under Yunus’ administration, while Bangladesh is gradually deepening relations with terror-patron Pakistan, shockingly Bangladesh Armed Forces and the country’s intelligence establishment are openly deepening relations with Pakistan Army and its notorious spy agency – Inter-Service Intelligence.

Recent media reports reveal that Lt. Gen. Kamrul Hassan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division in Bangladesh, visited Pakistan to meet ISI chief Lt. Gen. Asim Malik. During this visit, a deal was signed granting Pakistan’s Ordnance Factory exclusive rights to produce arms and ammunition in Bangladesh’s Ordnance Factory (BOF). Historically self-sufficient and well-maintained, the BOF has now become a tool for Pakistan to further its regional ambitions, potentially supplying ammunition to terrorist groups targeting India and other nations.

The ISI’s involvement in Bangladesh’s affairs has been a longstanding concern, and recent developments exacerbate the threat. The agreement with Pakistan could enable the production of explosives, remote-controlled bombs, drones, and even missiles, posing a grave security risk to the region and beyond. Furthermore, Bangladesh’s growing anti-India and Islamist rhetoric aligns with Pakistan’s agenda to destabilize the region.

Things have turned further worse for Yunus following the January 20 inauguration of President Trump and a high-powered delegation of Pakistani spy agency Inter-Service Agency (ISI) visiting Bangladesh.

According to information, on January 21, ISI chief landed in Bangladesh via Emirates Airlines flight number EK-586 and was received from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) by a senior officer of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). Other members of the ISI delegation are: Major General Shahid Afsar (Passport number LL-1510010), Brigadier General Alam Amir Awan (Passport number AP-1608918), Brigadier General Muhammad Asim (Passport number DN-1853599) and Lieutenant Colonel Usman Latif Khalid (Passport number CB-9495684).

Some sources claim, the Brigadier General Muhammad Asim is actually Lieutenant General Asim Malik, Director General of ISI, while others say, the DG, ISI landed in Dhaka by EK-686 at 5:21 PM Dhaka time and left the country by EK-685 flight at 01:00 am on January 22 thus leaving other members of the team in Bangladesh on some “important mission”.

It may be mentioned here that, under direct patronization of Yunus regime, Pakistani ISI began collaborating with the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) in re-establishing at least three bases within Kasalong Reserve Forest area alongside the Masalong river in Bangladesh. Part of the area falls under Baghaichari upazila and Dighinallah. Two undercover ISI officers (both Colonels) are coordinating this operation.

It also is learnt from a credible source that since September last year, ULFA kingpin Paresh Baruah has been in Bangladesh.

Earlier media reports claimed, following the Pakistan visit of Lt Gen Kamrul Hasan, Principal Staff Officer of the Armed Forces Division, Pakistan Army is in the process of taking full control of Bangladesh Ordnance Factory, which manufactures ammunition of various calibers.

Defense experts say, historically, the Bangladesh Ordnance Factory has been a well-maintained and self-sufficient institution, meeting the demands of the Bangladesh Armed Forces (BAF) with its production capabilities. It has also collaborated with global powers to enhance its production capacity. A significant portion of the arms and ammunition used by the BAF are manufactured domestically by this factory. Therefore, its collaboration with Pakistan carries deeper implications that warrant further analysis.

It is also claimed by media reports that under the garb of producing ammunition, Pakistan Army may produce various types of explosives, while it will produce ‘Shahin-2’ prototype missile in Bangladesh. Since the ouster of Sheikh Hasina, several pro-Pakistan academics and defense experts in Bangladesh have been consistently calling upon Muhammad Yunus to build nuclear capabilities under collaboration with Pakistan.

As Yunus regime lifted provisions of mandatory inspection of any commodity arriving from abroad – only for anything arriving from Pakistan, Islamabad might have already started sending required materials for sensitive military hardware including Long-Range Ballistic Missiles, as Pakistan is vigorously working in using Bangladesh as terror launchpad with the dangerous plot of destabilizing India and helping various separatist groups.

Under Yunus’s regime, Islamist-jihadist factions have been advancing their agenda of transforming Bangladesh into an “Islamic Republic” or caliphate. These factions, inspired by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), are reportedly forming an Islamic Revolutionary Army (IRA). This clandestine force aims to infiltrate nations such as the United States, the United Kingdom, India, and Israel, carrying out lone-wolf attacks and recruiting locals into jihadist activities. The IRA’s emergence presents a new and significant global threat.

With such an extremely alarming scenario and growing covert and overt relations between Bangladesh Army and Pakistan Army, to President Trump and his administration, Bangladesh certainly is under close monitoring, which would ultimately result in stricter punitive measures against Bangladesh as well as Muhammad Yunus and Bangladesh Armed Forces.

In my opinion, as Muhammad Yunus and his administration have undermined and disrespected President Trump’s October 31 tweet and as the country is set to become another Pakistan or worse, Trump may soon impose punitive tariffs on all exported products from Bangladesh, including readymade garments. At the same time, Washington may enforce travel bans on key figures in the civil-military establishments.
