On September 24, 2016, an explosion ripped through the center of Budapest seriously injuring two policemen. The blast occurred a week before the country went to the polls to vote in the controversial migrant quota referendum. The social media chatter immediately connected the bombing with the referendum, while counterterrorism experts saw hands of terrorist groups behind this explosion. But no one knew – this terrorist attack plot was finalized by a terrorist weeks back at the Curry House – a restaurant owned by Zulkarnain Saer Khan. This Bangladeshi born businessman, who was deported from Hungary following the explosion – has been running transnational money laundering activities under the garb of restaurant business, while he also was actively involved in supplying escort girls mostly to tourists from Asian countries.

Although media reports have revealed connections of Zulkarnain Saer Khan behind the Budapest blast, Hungarian authorities – including its law enforcement and intelligence agencies lately have started suspicious role while government-controlled media outlets are frantically trying to burry this revelation for reasons unknown.
Almost eight years of the incident, one of the Hungarian government’s newspapers (Magyar Nemzet) states, with reference to another government paper, Pesti Srácok, that Weekly Blitz, published false information in his articles July 3, 2022 and October 25, 2023, despite the fact that Europe’s leading news outlet Euronews had published a report giving reference of reports published in Blitz. Hungarian state-controlled newspapers flagged Blitz report as “fake” while they claim that Hungarian secret service has been monitoring Zulkarnain’s activities during all his stay in Hungary. Meanwhile, Hungarian secret service refused to provide details behind monitoring activities of Zulkarnain Saer stating those were “confidential information”.
Commenting on this, a source in Hungary seeking anonymity said, “Why is it confidential if he [Zurkarnain Saer] only ran a restaurant? I think it is likely that he had a close relationship with the Hungarian authorities, helping each other hand in hand. The Hungarian government propaganda benefited from the bombing from several political reasons”.
“Could it be that they cooperated with the real perpetrators of the bombing through Zulkarmain? This would be supported by the illegalities committed by the authorities/investigators during the investigation of the bombing and the putting the blame on another individual by making him a mere scapegoat. If this is what happened, then it was obviously not in the interest of the Hungarian authorities to bring down the owner of the Curry House, who gave place to the terrorist organization of the bombing, and his guests who were talking about the bombing, since they were doing the government a favor.
“Many non-governmental Hungarian journalists wrote about the fact that no official measures were taken to reduce the threat of further terrorist attacks after the bombing, such as checking airports, bus and train stations, or road closures out of Budapest”.
Another source said, “Unfortunately, the goal of the current government in Hungary is not to preserve democracy. Since 2010 the dictatorship has been getting stronger and stronger. There is a semblance of democracy. The government steals a significant part of taxes and EU subsidies, and uses it – among others – for self-serving, false propaganda. There are big problems under the surface, which is why the EU had to “outcast” the government.

“There is a Minister of Propaganda in Hungary, Antal Rogán, who controls the media – TV channels, newspapers etc. They had to quickly flag Blitz’s report as false as it was unpleasant for them.
“They did this with side questions, because – allegedly (it’s also not certain) – the pro-government journalist did not ask “those in charge of the investigation” what was the reason behind Zulkarnain’s deportation from Hungary. It is clearly a case of hide-and-seek by the authorities concerned. For the sake of exposing truth, it is essential that Western media outlets as well as investigative journalist initiate investigation into the mystery of Budapest blast. This is essential”.
