A New York woman named Courtney Coffey has been surprisingly projected as “megastar” in her first debut movie in Bangladesh, despite the fact, she is an unknown entity in the American film industry as well as Hollywood. Her website, Caffey described herself stating, “Courtney Coffey is an actress model, and producer based in New York City and travelling worldwide. She focuses on narrative films, commercials, and television as well as print”. In the gallery section of the website, there is no working photo of Caffey in any other movie except just a single photo of the Bangladeshi film named ‘Rajkumar’, where she has been the co-performer with Dhaka film industry’s superstar Shakib Khan.

Her unverified Facebook page has 72 thousand followers, 99 percent of whom are from Bangladesh. Since August 6, 2023, Courtney Coffey has been dedicatedly and exclusively promoting her lone movie in Bangladesh whereas there is no other post about her “work” with any other movie venture anywhere in the world, including the United States.

On Google search, this correspondent did not find even a single report in any of the American or foreign media outlets about engagement of Courtney Coffey in any of the movies. Furthermore, it also is unknown if Coffey had made necessary declaration with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) about her work in the lead role in Bangladeshi movie ‘Rajkumar’ and her earnings from this film. According to IRS, any US citizen or a resident alien living outside the United States, their worldwide income is subject to US income tax, regardless of where they live. US citizens who fail to file US taxes risk passport denial, penalties, and even criminal charges. The IRS charges penalties for both late filing and late payments.

The self-proclaimed high-budget film ‘Rajkumar’, produced by Arshad Adnan, a recently emerged prominent figure in Bangladesh film circle, is scheduled for release this upcoming Eid ul-Fitr.

The movie ‘Rajkumar’ is directed by Himel Ashraf, a green-card holder in the United States. It is unknown if Ashraf has declared his huge income from Bangladeshi movies – including ‘Rajkumar’ with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It may be mentioned here that the IRS is the revenue service for the United States federal government, which is responsible for collecting US federal taxes and administering the Internal Revenue Code.
