China ready to work with new government in Bangladesh

China expresses its strong support for Bangladesh’s post-election political endeavors in line with its laws, emphasizing its commitment as a friendly neighbor.

The Chinese foreign ministry’s spokesperson, Mao Ning, highlighted China’s backing for Bangladesh’s implementation of political agendas following the election, underscoring principles such as mutual respect, equality, mutual benefit, and non-interference in internal affairs.

Ning, speaking during a regular press briefing in Beijing, conveyed China’s readiness to collaborate with the new government in Bangladesh, aiming to uphold the long-established friendship between the two nations. According to a press release by the Chinese embassy in Dhaka, Ning reiterated China’s willingness to bolster high-quality Belt and Road cooperation and foster advancements in the China-Bangladesh Strategic Partnership of Cooperation.

Furthermore, China extended congratulations to Bangladesh on the successful execution of the 12th National Parliamentary Election, commending the Awami League on its victory. Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen personally reached out to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Gonobhaban on January 8, extending congratulations on both the successful election and the Awami League’s win. During the meeting, Yao conveyed warm regards and best wishes from Chinese leaders to Bangladesh’s premier.
