On the other hand, in the same sector, and in terms of annual change, the index of the manufacturing industry sector increased by 3.6% compared to the corresponding month (May 2022), as a result of the increase in production for the following groups: the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products by 12.0%, followed by the food products industry by 5.5%, the base metals industry (basic minerals) by 1.7%, and the beverage industry by 1.4%. 3. Electricity, gas and steam supplies: an increase in production was observed between May 2023 and the previous month (April 2023) by 34.7%, and when compared with the corresponding month of the previous year (May 2022), the increase was 1.0%.
