Chinese national involved in gold smuggling arrested in Nepal

Kathmandu, 20 July (Hindustan Times). A Chinese national has been arrested for his involvement in gold smuggling in Nepal. Nepal’s Immigration Department has arrested Chinese national Jieqiang Lin from Tribhuvan International Airport. The Chinese national involved in this was about to fly to China on Thursday after about 100 kg of gold was seized from Nepal’s airport. The police arrested him on the basis of information that he was trying to escape from Kathmandu.

Smugglers had brought the gold from Hong Kong by hiding it in Brac Soo. Nepal’s Revenue Investigation Department is probing the apprehension that a big racket is involved. Six people including a Tibetan national involved in gold smuggling have been arrested. Recently, a large amount of gold smuggling has come to light in Nepal. It is learned that gangs of Chinese nationals are involved in this.
