According to Hindu scriptures, youths who are in search of their desired partner should observe a fast on this day and seek blessings from Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. People wake up early in the morning and take a bath before starting the puja rituals. Place idols of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati, light a lamp, apply tilak, offer vermilion and sweets to Goddess Parvati. Recite Shiv Chalisa in the evening at twilight and perform aarti. After completing all the rituals, devotees can break their fast and have sattvic food.
