Khorimhua: A raid campaign was conducted by the Forest Department on Thursday against the illegal sawmills operating in Ghodthambha under Dhanwar block of Dhanbad district of Jharkhand. During this, many illegal saw mills were demolished by using bulldozers. Hundreds of wooden carts were seized. Its cost has been estimated at around Rs 25 lakh.

The campaign was conducted under the leadership of DFO Ankit Singh, Eastern Region DFO Pravesh Agarwal. During this, five sawmills of Ghodthamba under Dhanwar block were demolished. In the campaign, hundreds of officers of the forest department simultaneously reached four saw mills with bulldozers and confiscated all the saw mill plants and woods.

DFO Ankit Singh told that on secret information, two sawmills of Dabboo Miyan in Kodwadih under Ghorthambha OP area, one of Mo Mustaq (father Habib Miyan) resident of Jolhwadih (Dhakosaran) and one sawmill of Pandey in Dhamla Sarakwatand and sawmills of Basdubia. was demolished. All the machines have been confiscated. Told that 25 tractors, four JCBs, half a dozen Hyva, one Hydra vehicle were also installed during the raid. The value of the seized wood is around 25 lakhs. Strict action will be taken after registering a case against all sawmill operators. There are many other saw mills in Ghodthamba, they are being monitored. Action will be taken soon.
