The Somali President invites Qatari businessmen to view investment opportunities in his country

His Excellency President Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud, President of the brotherly Federal Republic of Somalia, called on Qatari businessmen to visit Somalia and see the investment opportunities available in all economic sectors.
During his meeting with members of the Qatari Businessmen Association, in the presence of HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Qatari Businessmen Association, His Excellency said that various economic sectors such as the agricultural, commercial, real estate and industrial sectors are open to investment, whether in partnership with the government or the Somali private sector.
His Excellency added that the two countries have distinguished and strong relations in several areas, including economic, investment and development cooperation, expecting that these areas will witness greater cooperation in the future.
He pointed out that Qatar focused in the field of development on projects that benefit the Somali people and contribute to the local economy, explaining that the most prominent examples in this regard are the implementation of the Mogadishu-Afgooye road project and the Mogadishu-Jawhar project, which are two roads linking the capital with a number of roads. of cities, in addition to the contribution of the State of Qatar to the rehabilitation and construction of the headquarters of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the construction and rehabilitation of the Mogadishu municipality building, as well as other projects.
His Excellency the Somali President noted the numerous visits between the two countries, as he said that he is visiting Doha for the third time in a row after attending the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, followed by a second visit last March to participate in the United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries, so that the current visit is the third. This reflects the depth of the bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Somali president stated that his country’s focus is on youth, noting Qatar’s significant contribution to projects to eradicate illiteracy and educate about 300,000 students, and another project to economically empower Somali youth and provide them with job opportunities in the fishing sector, as Somalia enjoys extended coasts rich in fish, and all supplies will be provided. Not only that, but there will also be support for fish marketing in an integrated project for the youth of Somalia and their families.
For his part, HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association, said: Qatar and Somalia have strong historical relations, based on mutual respect, mutual understanding and coordination, pointing out that Qatar plays an important role in implementing many vital development, reconstruction and rehabilitation projects. In Somalia, such as building roads and other vital infrastructure projects, it also supports economic empowerment programs and job creation for youth in Somalia, and has implemented many developmental and sustainable projects that include building schools, hospitals and the health care sector in general.
HE Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani also welcomed the Somali President’s invitation to visit a delegation of Qatari businessmen to Mogadishu to study the available investment opportunities in real estate, insurance, tourism, agriculture and other investment sectors.
The Republic of Somalia seeks to attract Qatari investors to establish projects that can support development in the country and create job opportunities for its youth and children. There are many sectors that can be invested in, especially agricultural projects, livestock and fisheries, especially since Somalia has coasts that extend for more than 3,700 kilometers, which It makes him one of the longest coastlines in the world.
