The 1.5 kilometer long bridge connecting Wade and Variav has been thrown open to the public by the Surat Municipal Corporation at a cost of Rs 118.42 crore. With this bridge, the distance from Katargam to Variav-Chhaprabhata will be reduced by one-third. Using this 1496 meter long bridge, the distance from Vade to Variav can be covered in just one and a half minutes.
The easy and traffic free movement of the bridge will benefit about eight lakh citizens in the vicinity and save their valuable time and fuel. Thousands of jewelers including citizens have got another new option to travel from Katargam to Amroli. With the opening of this bridge, the total number of river bridges, bay bridges, flyover bridges, railway bridges in the city has increased to 120. Thus, the citizens of Bridge City Surat have got the gift of 120th bridge in the form of Vade-Variav Bridge.
Leaders inaugurating Ved Variav Tapi Bridge <p> </p> <p>With the construction of Vade-Variav bridge, now motorists will not have to travel 7.5 km from Katargam to Variav and Chhaprabhata and this distance can be covered in one and a half to two minutes. Keeping in view the traffic load in Katargam-Vedrod and Variav-Amroli-Chhaprabhata areas on the opposite side of Tapi river, this bridge constructed by Surat Municipal Corporation will make it much easier for the residents of Variav area to reach the main areas of the city like Chowkbazar. The Vade-Variav bridge has become the 15th bridge over the Tapi river.</p> <p>In a function organized on the banks of Tapi river near Wade Road Swaminarayan Gurukul, Union Minister Darshanaben Zardosh said that the good governance of the triple engine in Surat Municipal Corporation is speeding up the development works of the state and central government. </p> <p>Apart from this, Mrs. Zardosh said that in the near future, Surat railway station will be the country's first multi-modal railway station. Where Railways, GSRTC City Bus Terminal Station and Metro will be integrated seamlessly. Transport connectivity will be available. The new state-of-the-art station building will facilitate business, trade and economic activities and will become the center of commerce.</p> <p>He said that the new bridge at Ved Variav would also provide easy connectivity from Surat to Olpad taluk. Congratulated the Surat Municipal Corporation for giving the gift of various projects and for maintaining this pace of development continuously.</p>
