Gumla, Durjay Paswan: Seven youths have gang-raped two girls studying in fifth grade after kidnapping them from a wedding ceremony in a village adjacent to Gumla city. Two youths raped a 12-year-old girl and five youths raped a 15-year-old girl. After this, to hush up the matter, a rape victim was beaten up after holding a meeting in the village. Because of which the victim, her mother and two sisters are hiding in a safe place leaving the village out of fear. When the police went to the village to arrest the accused on the information of the incident on Thursday morning, the relatives of one of the accused attacked the police. Gumla Police Sub-Inspector Vivek Chaudhary got head injury from the cane of Tangi (axe). The police have arrested two accused of rape and two attackers. Five accused of rape are absconding from the village. The people who beat up the victim after meeting in the village are also absconding.

The incident is of May 1, 2023. There was a marriage ceremony in the village. Where both the girls had gone. All the seven accused were also present in the same marriage ceremony. There was dancing in the marriage ceremony till 12 o’clock in the night. After this, the seven youths took both the girls with them to a semi-built house in the village itself. Where both the girls were raped by the youths.

A rape victim informed her family members about the incident on Wednesday, 16 days later. After this, the victim’s father told the accused’s grandmother about the incident. Taking the matter seriously, a meeting was called in the village on Wednesday. In which there were 20 to 25 people from the village. The victim was also called in the meeting. The victim was giving information about the incident to the villagers. Meanwhile, a person named Amrit beat up a victim in a crowded meeting. Due to which the victim got scared. She went home and left the village with her mother and sisters and went somewhere. Here, on Thursday morning the victim’s father went to the house of chief Satyavati Devi to request to find his wife and daughters. Where the women of the women’s group were already meeting. After this, the case of gang rape came to light.
Police sub-inspector Vivek Chaudhary injured
Gumla Police Sub Inspector Vivek Chaudhary told that on the information of gangrape of two girls and meeting in the village, I went to the village with the police force. When one of the accused went to his house to catch him, his family members attacked him. Due to which my head hurt.
Female SHO Suman Kumari said that a victim is missing from the village. The statement of the second victim has been taken by bringing her to the police station. While the police is investigating the matter seriously, Vrinda Panchayat head Satyavati Devi said that on Thursday morning the father of a victim came to my house and informed about the incident. After this, the case of rape and assault of two girls has come to the fore.
