To prevent the increasing pollution in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, a ban has been imposed on the operation of diesel powered three wheelers in the urban area from October 1. Their operation will be outside the Municipal Corporation area. After this decision of the cabinet, on the orders of the Governor, the Transport Department has issued a gazette in this regard. There is a total of 9,38,400 vehicles registered in the district. Of these, 1,26,513 are commercial and 8,11,887 are private vehicles. All types of three wheelers running on diesel in the urban areas have been banned. The operation of more than 31 thousand passenger auto rickshaws will be completely stopped in the district. In this, more than 50 percent autos have fitness failure. More than 75 percent pollution certificate is failed

It has been said in the issued gazette that the smoke emanating from old diesel driven vehicles harms the health of the people, due to which it has been banned. Suitable traffic signs should be displayed at important places to inform the people who will be affected by this ban through prior information. DTO Sushil Kumar told that according to the guidance issued by the department in this regard, action will be taken in this direction. At present, a list of 15 years old government vehicles has been prepared, the total number of which is 178. Headquarters has been informed about this.

Companies promoting CNG vehicles

In the ban on diesel driven vehicles, a subsidy scheme has been announced on commercial vehicles, but it is not yet on passenger vehicles. But vehicle companies are offering special offers for those who want to exchange old diesel autos and get CNG. In this, they are being given a discount of more than Rs. 5000, which will depend on the condition of the current vehicle. Owners of such passenger vehicles can take advantage of this by visiting the concerned vehicle agency. It has now been decided that they will not operate in the city from October 1.

8 CNG stations in the district, 18 more will open

So far 8 CNG stations have been opened in the district at the petrol pump adjacent to the city. CNG is available at Ashoka Gayatri Fuels at Madwan Road, KGN Petroleum at Ladaura, Ganpati Service Station at Rajla, Ashutosh Petroleum at Turki, Baji Buzurg Vaibhav Vivek Fuels, Musafir Oil Station at Bhikhanpur Ahiyapur, Dihuli Ishaq at Sakra, Raj Fuels. Along with this, action is going on to open it at 18 petrol pumps. All these new CNG stations are to be commissioned by the end of this year. IOCL CNG team is working on this.
