Ahmedabad: In-principle approval given to pre-feasibility report for setting up new GIDCs in 13 districts of the state

The state government has decided to start new industrial estates for the development of industries as well as to increase employment in the state. The state government has given in-principle approval to start 21 new GIDCs in 13 districts of the state in the near future. The state government has given in-principle approval to the pre-feasibility report of this GIDC.

In-principle approval of pre-feasibility report for establishment of new GIDC

In the assembly session, it was announced to set up new GIDC in the state. The State Government has given in-principle approval for obtaining preliminary feasibility study report on outright availability of land, demand survey, local factors and agriculture production etc. for the new GIDC. GIDCs will be set up in 21 taluks of Rajkot, Mehsana, Mahisagar, Bharuch, Banaskantha, Patan, Chhota Udepur, Gir Somnath, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Amreli, Anand and Junagadh districts of the state.

Industries Minister Balwant Singh Rajput gave this information on the floor of the House during the budget session of the Vidhansabha. In which he announced setting up of 21 new GIDCs in the state. In which Tharad, Vadgam, Lavana, Bhildi and Palanpur will get new GIDC along with Gangad of Ahmedabad. Along with this, new GIDCs will be set up at Siddhpur, Santalpur, Vinchia, Chhapra, Amod, Jotan and Nani Bhalu, Kadjodara, Ladod, Savarkundla, Gir Somnath Nawabandar, Thasra and Vanshi-Borsi of Navsari. For the establishment of GIDC, the Industries Department will study the availability of land, supporting arrangements for the establishment of industries.

There is no GIDC in 104 talukas of Gujarat

GIDC has contributed immensely to the industrial upliftment, local employment and cluster development of the State. However, there are still many talukas of the state which yearn for GIDC. There are 104 talukas in the state where there is no GIDC. While 147 talukas have employment arrangements for local commercial employment.

The government presented these figures in the assembly in response to a question by Congress MLA Amit Chavda. According to which there is no GIDC in 8 taluks of Banaskantha and 7 taluks of Junagadh district. Besides this, a total of 104 talukas including 6 talukas of Surat, 6 of Kheda, 6 of Dahod, 5 of Sabarkantha, 5 of Mahisagar, 5 of Bhavnagar and 5 of Amreli do not have any GIDC.
