New Delhi, May 18 (Hindustan Times). The Indian women’s football team has been placed in Group C for the AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying Tournament Round 2. Teams like Japan, Vietnam and Uzbekistan have been placed in this group along with the Indian team. The draw for the second round was released on Thursday morning. The Indian team qualified for the second round after defeating Kyrgyz Republic twice in the first round.
The All India Football Federation (AIFF) said on Thursday that the draw has been released. India is in Group C for the Round 2 of AFC Women’s Olympic Qualifying 2024 along with Japan, Vietnam and hosts Uzbekistan.
As per the ongoing schedule, the 12 teams were divided into three groups A, B and C of four teams each. Round 2 matches will be played from 23 October to 1 November. India will play its Group C matches in Uzbekistan. After playing each other in Round 2, the three group winners and the best runner-up team will advance to Round 3. After this, the four teams will play each other on home and away basis on February 24 and 28 next year. The final two winners of Round 3 will represent Asia at the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024.
