Kanpur : In a dispute over an e-rickshaw in the Cantt police station area, a relative set a couple on fire by pouring petrol on Tuesday. Both died alive by burning. The bodies were handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem on Wednesday. The family members blocked the road by keeping the dead body near Jajmau old octroi for compensation. ACP Cantt Shivaji tried to pacify the angry relatives.

Ramkumar, a resident of Badlipurwa in Cantt police station area, lived with wife Sapna, daughter Payal and Manvi. According to family members, Ramkumar’s aunt died during the Corona period. After this, his uncle Ram Narayan’s health deteriorated, and Rajkumar Started staying at his house to take care of him. Ramnarayan had got an e-rickshaw taken out a few days back. Rajkumar used to run it and gave 300 rupees per day to his uncle. For the last few days, a dispute was going on between the two people regarding e-rickshaw. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Ramnarayan poured petrol and set Rajkumar on fire. Hearing the screams, his wife Sapna also tried to save him, then the accused poured petrol on her and set her on fire.

Please tell that seeing the couple burning, their sister Monica also tried to save them, she also got burnt. In a hurry, the police admitted her to the hospital. The couple died during treatment late in the evening. The post-mortem of the dead body took place on Wednesday. After the post-mortem, the relatives reached home with the dead body.

Road jam on demand of compensation

The relatives and neighbors of the deceased created a ruckus by keeping the dead body near Jajmau old octroi demanding financial help of Rs 10 lakh for the education and living of the children. Information about the ruckus and the ACP reached with the force of Cantt Circle. After talking for an hour, the officials assured the children to get government help for financial and education. After which the relatives performed the last rites of the couple. ACP Cantt Shivaji says that the relatives of the deceased had blocked the road demanding compensation. The jam has been opened by saying that financial help will be provided by the government.
