Jharkhand High Court seeks answer from PAG in case of illegal mining in Garhwa, Palamu and Latehar

Jharkhand High Court has stopped illegal mining On Wednesday, the public interest litigation filed regarding the investigation was heard. A division bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Justice Anand Sen, after hearing the side of the applicant during the hearing of the case, directed the Principal Accountant General (PAG) Jharkhand to file a reply in the matter. The court said that if the investigation has been done in the matter, then its report should be presented.

Earlier, in this case, the Bench Principal Accountant General was made a defendant. On the other hand, the report of the three-member special committee was presented by the state government. For further hearing on this, the Bench fixed the date of July 5. Before this, advocate Rajeev Kumar presented his side on behalf of the applicant.

He told that it should be ascertained from the satellite images that on how much land the companies have got lease for mining and in fact on how much land the said companies are doing mining work. It is noteworthy that the applicant Pankaj Kumar Yadav has filed a public interest litigation. He has demanded to stop illegal mining and transportation in Garhwa, Palamu and Latehar districts and to take action against the culprits.
