The cyber cell of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) busted a big gang of cyber criminals in Patna on Wednesday and arrested five criminals. Cash of Rs 14 lakh, gold worth 17.56 lakh, 36.50 grams of silver, 70 mobile phones, 109 ATM cards of various banks, 86 passbooks and checkbooks, six Aadhaar cards, four PAN cards, one voter ID card, one all in one desktop were recovered from them. Computer, two laptops, a smart TV and note counting machine have been recovered.

The arrested criminals were operating cyber crime by taking place in Lavkush Tower located on the very busy Exhibition Road of the capital and Meena Mansion building in Alamganj. Those arrested include Rahul Kumar alias Sunny Arya of Patna’s fisherman group, Kanhaiya Kumar of Khajekalan Patna, Prince Raj of Chhapra, Himanshu Raj of Vaishali and Ganesh Kumar of Begusarai.

Used to download apps like Annie Desk and transfer money to their bank

According to the EOU, these gangs used to get money transferred from the bank to their bank account by downloading remote access apps like Annie Desk. Cyber ​​gangs used to download Annie Desk on people’s mobile, laptop or desktop in some way and install UPI of their banks and illegally withdraw money from their accounts and transfer it to their banks. At the same time, common people were made victims of fraud by withdrawing cash through ATMs and purchasing gold, silver and diamond jewelery from other e-commerce companies.

Raid by forming a team of two DSPs

EOU had received information about the existence of a large cyber criminals. On information, the ADG of EOU formed a team of other police officers and personnel of cyber cell under the leadership of two DSPs and raided. After this the gang was caught. According to the EOU, the working area of ​​the arrested gang members was up to Bihar and Jharkhand.

Used to work in collaboration with cyber criminals of Jamtara and Deoghar

EOU officials told that the gang members used to conduct their work in collaboration with cyber criminals of Jamtara and Deoghar of Jharkhand, notorious for cyber crime. The arrested criminals are being interrogated. The EoU has expressed hope that after interrogation a big interstate cyber criminal gang is likely to be unearthed.
