A large part of the market built in front of Vikas Bhavan in Patna was completely demolished on Tuesday. This included 11 pucca and a dozen raw structures. Virendra, who shopped in the market for a long time, told that this market was running for the last 25-30 years. The Marketing Board had built shops and given it on lease to the shopkeepers and till 2019, they were paying its rent to the Marketing Board only as per the terms of the contract. But from the showcause notices received by 11 shopkeepers of the market premises on April 3, they came to know that now after the dissolution of the marketing board, this land has been given back to the building construction department. On May 14, the shopkeepers were ordered to leave the premises within 48 hours. Against this, the shopkeepers also filed a petition in the Patna High Court on Monday. The matter was to be heard on Tuesday. But, before that the administration put JCB on the market.

Large number of computer and photostat shops

There were a large number of computer and photo state shops in the market built in front of Vikas Bhawan. Due to being in front of the secretariat, a large number of people used to come here for photostat or computer typing. Along with this, tea, snacks and food dhabas were also running, where the people who used to go around the secretariat for their work used to have breakfast and water.

A part of the market is built near the adjacent temple. But due to the temple being built on land, it was not harmed in any way.

Resentment was also seen among the shopkeepers against the demolition of the shops in the market. Some shopkeepers had filed a petition in the Patna High Court. So they wanted to stop the action till their hearing, but the municipal team that came to remove the encroachment and the magistrate present there said that if they have a court order to stop the removal of the encroachment, then show it, otherwise Let them work, because they are also working as per the instructions of the court. The anger of the shopkeepers has reduced a bit. Due to the presence of a large number of police forces, people had to leave the protest and from 10 am to 4 pm, two JCBs of the Municipal Corporation demolished the entire main market.

Encroachment has been removed many times before

After the dissolution of the Marketing Board in the year 2019, anti-encroachment action was taken on the shops of this market two-three times before, but the part from which the encroachment was removed, the shopkeepers shifted to the adjacent part after a few days. But this time the entire market was demolished.
