Udhampur, May 16 (Hindustan Times). An inter-school competition for under-17 girls was organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Zone Jib, at the Mini Stadium. In which 168 players from various government/private institutions participated in volleyball, kabaddi, kho-kho, tug of war and wrestling competitions.
The tournament is being organized by the Youth Services and Sports Department under the overall supervision of Dharamveer Singh, District Youth Services and Sports Officer Udhampur and under the supervision of Zonal Physical Education Officer Jib Sushma Rani.
On this occasion, Chief Education Officer Geetu Bangotra was present as the chief guest while Sub Inspector Pallavi Rajput was present as the guest of honour. Before this the oath of ‘Nasha Mukti’ was taken and later the national anthem was played, in which the students participated with great enthusiasm. Earlier, on this occasion, Chief Education Officer Udhampur congratulated the players by shaking hands and boosted their morale for the tournament. The tournament is also being followed up under PEM Sanjay Sharma of Zone Jib.
In the competitions played, HS Bali defeated HS Johnu by a margin of 3-2 in the tug of war competition. In the Kho-Kho competition, HS Laddan beat HS Kawa by 5 points. In the volleyball competition, HS Warta beat HS Maud in straight 2 sets (25-17, 25-15). In the Kabaddi competition, HS Bally defeated HS Upper Thanoa by 6 points. Among others who conducted the matches on the occasion, PEM, PET and REK from various institutions of the Department of Youth Services and Sports were present.
