Surat: Seven people got a new life from the organ donation of a brain dead 29-year-old youth.

Surat, known as Textile and Diamond City, is now becoming famous as Organ Donor City in the country. Another organ donation was done from Surat’s Kiran Hospital. The family of 29-year-old brain dead Jhaver Kakadbhai Kunwar of the tribal community took the decision of organ donation, which has shown a new direction to the society by spreading the fragrance of humanity by donating heart, lungs, liver, kidney and eyes to seven people suffering from organ failure.

Jhaverbhai Kakarbhai Kunwar (age: 29), a resident of Valsad’s Dund Falia Primary School, was working as a sweeper in Bayer Company in Vapi. The family consists of wife, one son and two daughters. Jhaverbhai had gone to a wedding ceremony in Khamdahad village of Dharampur taluka on May 12. He was returning home from a wedding ceremony at 1.30 pm. Then his bike ran out of petrol, so he left his bike on the side and was standing on the road, when an unknown car driver hit him, causing serious head injuries and he became unconscious.

Jhaverbhai was immediately admitted in 108 ambulance to Sainath Hospital in Dharampur and treatment was started, CT scan was done to identify brain haemorrhage. For further treatment, he was admitted to Kiran Hospital in Surat at 10 pm on May 14 and treatment was started. On May 15, doctors declared Jhaverbhai brain dead.

After declaring Jhaverbhai brain dead, the doctors contacted the family’s Donate Life organization. Donate Life team reached the hospital and explained the importance of organ donation and its entire process to Jhaverbhai’s father Kakadbhai, brother-in-law Vinodbhai, uncle Kalabhai, Bapi village leader Bharatbhai. Jhaver’s father and other family members told that when we used to see the news of organ donation in newspapers and Donate Life’s YouTube channel, we used to think that it is a divine act. Needy patients can get a new life through organ donation. By saying this, he agreed to donate his son Jhaver’s organ.

In a 28-year-old man from Himmatnagar, Ahmedabad’s U.N. A heart transplant was performed at Mehta Hospital and a lung transplant was performed at K.D. Hospital, Ahmedabad in a 59-year-old man from Rajasthan. A 62-year-old man from Ahmedabad underwent liver transplant at Kiran Hospital, Surat. In Kiran Hospital itself, one kidney was transplanted into a 51-year-old man from Surat and the other into a 42-year-old man from Surendranagar.

A green corridor was created by the police to ensure that the heart and lungs reach Ahmedabad on time.
