The deposits of 164 candidates contesting for the post of Mayor in 17 Municipal Corporations were forfeited, SP-BSP also did not survive

Lucknow : The deposits of 164 candidates who contested for the post of Mayor in all the 17 Municipal Corporations of Uttar Pradesh were forfeited. Barring the SP candidate, the deposits of all the seven mayoral candidates in Ayodhya were forfeited. In this election, among the candidates for the post of Mayor, only 15 such candidates were able to save their deposits. In state capital Lucknow, deposits of 11 candidates except SP were forfeited.

In Prayagraj, in 21 grounds, the deposits of 19 candidates were forfeited.

The deposits of all the 11 candidates who lost in the mayoral elections in Ghaziabad and five in Jhansi were forfeited. In Shahjahanpur, apart from Congress, 6 candidates besides BSP in Saharanpur and 9 candidates apart from SP in Varanasi also forfeited their deposits. In Aligarh, except for BSP, eight candidates, except SP in Kanpur, 11 and in Prayagraj, except for SP, 19 candidates forfeited their deposits.

Similarly, in Firozabad nine apart from SP, 11 apart from SP in Bareilly, seven in Mathura, 12 apart from AIMIM and SP in Meerut and 10 independents apart from Congress in Moradabad could not save their deposits.
