Poisonous liquor wreaks havoc in Tamil Nadu, 10 including three women killed

Chengalpattu (Tamil Nadu), May 15 (Hindustan Times). Ten people, including three women, died after allegedly consuming spurious liquor in Tamil Nadu’s Villupuram and Chengalpattu districts. Six people died on Sunday at Ekkirakuppam near Marakkanam in Villupuram district, police said.

According to the police, two people died on Friday in Maduranthagam in Chengalpattu district and a couple died on Sunday. All four also died allegedly due to consumption of spurious liquor. More than 24 people are being treated in the hospital.

Inspector General of Police (North) N Kannan has said that all the 10 victims had consumed alcohol possibly laced with ethanol-methanol substances. Three inspectors and four sub-inspectors of both the districts have been suspended.
