Competition Commission started investigation against Google: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has started an investigation into Google’s allegation of non-compliance of its direction given in October last year regarding Android Play Store policies. The competition regulator has issued a show cause notice to Google seeking answers on some points. The internet company has been asked to respond within four weeks.

The source said that non-compliance of the CCI order is considered a serious matter and if Google is found guilty in this, fines and punitive steps can be taken.

The Competition Commission, in its order dated October 25, 2022, imposed a fine of Rs 936.44 crore on Google after finding it guilty of abusing its dominance on Android’s Playstore. Along with this, he had asked Google to stay away from unfair business activities.
