UP Nikay Election Results 2023: Results of civic elections in Uttar Pradesh, Rampur’s Swar and Mirzapur’s Chanbe assembly seats Akhilesh Yadav Has proved to be a big blow for the Samajwadi Party. The SP was constantly trying to attack the BJP government and put it in the dock. This time also he tried to be cautious in terms of religious and caste equations. But, still she could not win the trust of the voters. From Municipal Corporations to Municipality and Nagar Panchayat, its graph has fallen as compared to 2017. In this way, even before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a big challenge has arisen in front of it.

All the hopes of SP remained

The party was hopeful that this time it would do well in the mayoral post. At least his account will definitely be opened. But, once again he got failure. The process of his defeat continues election after election. Akhilesh Yadav or other Samajwadi Party leaders may accuse the government of favoritism, misuse of power and other allegations. But, the reality is that the party is not able to succeed in taking its strategy to the ground and conveying its message to the voters. This is affecting his political power.

This is how losses were incurred in municipal corporations

Local SP leaders were seen opposing each other at many places in the state. Due to not getting the ticket, the angry people were not seen working hard with the party candidate. Due to this also there was a negative impact. Even the authorized candidates of the party had to suffer losses due to the rebels entering the fray. In 2017, SP had 202 councilors in the municipal corporation in the state. In this way, 15.54 percent of the total councilors went to the SP. This time there has been a decline in it and it could reach only 13.45 percent.

The graph slipped down even in the municipality

Similarly, if we talk about the Chairman of the Municipal Council, in 2017, 45 candidates of the party won this post, which was 22.73 percent. Here also the SP was seen lagging behind and only 35 of its candidates could win the post of its NAP President. In this way, this figure could reach only 17.59 percent. The same situation was seen in the municipal members as well. In the last election, the number of municipality members of SP was 488, which was only 9.07. This time 420 members of the party won, which is only 7.88 percent.

Poor performance in Nagar Panchayat as well

Similarly, in the election for the post of Nagar Panchayat President in 2017, SP got 83 seats, which was 18.95 percent. This time only 78 of its candidates could win and the figure came down to 14.34 percent. If we talk about Nagar Panchayat members, then in comparison to 2017, this time also the party has suffered losses. Its figure decreased from 8.34 percent to 6.73 percent.

Main reasons for SP’s defeat

In BJP, from the organization to the government, where it has been active on every front for a long time, there was no movement in SP, whereas being the main opposition party, it needed to work harder.

From Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to both deputy CMs Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, all the ministers and the entire organization were seen doing the rounds of UP during the elections, while there was not much activism in SP.

Akhilesh Yadav, who talked about strengthening the opposition for the Lok Sabha elections 2024, himself did not appear on the ground in time to strengthen the candidates of his party.

The BJP kept on holding rallies and the SP’s strategy this time was that the people themselves would oppose the government and vote for its candidates.

The BJP made full use of its big faces. CM Yogi did 50 rallies. Akhilesh Yadav was limited to traveling in the Lucknow Metro and campaigning in a few cities. The old big leaders of the party were not fully utilised.

The party took a long time to declare the candidate in a big fight like civic elections. Candidates were declared by the last day of nomination.

The party leadership failed to resolve the estrangement of its own leaders. The tussle at the local level cost its candidates.

Azam Khan appeared alone in Swar and it seemed that this was not a by-election but his personal matter, whereas SP needed to focus more here.

The situation remained the same in the investigation. In the by-election, Akhilesh Yadav could not put as much emphasis in the battle as the public had expected, being an opposition party.
