Praveen Sood became the new director of CBI

New Delhi, May 14 (Hindustan Times). Karnataka Director General of Police Praveen Sood has been appointed as the next Director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Sood’s tenure will be of two years. He will succeed Subodh Jaiswal, who completes his term on May 25.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and leader of the largest party in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury attended a high-powered committee meeting on Saturday to select the new CBI director. Three names were selected in the meeting and the names of new Central Vigilance Commissioner and Member Lokpal were also discussed.

The Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet approved the name of Praveen Sood. This information has been given in an order of the Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
