Neither the map is being passed nor sand is being found in Ranchi! Road-drain, building construction almost stalled

Ranchi. There has been a ban on passing the map in Ranchi for almost six months. That’s why the construction work of new buildings is not being done. At the same time, the work of the buildings whose map has already been passed is also closed due to lack of sand. As a result, the laborers associated with the construction work are sitting idle. The sale of rods-cement to stone chips has also fallen by 50 percent. Builders have started extending the duration of their projects. The condition is that all the three flyovers under construction at Kantatoli, Siromatoli and Ratu Road have also slowed down for smooth traffic in the capital.

The matter of passing the map is now in the High Court

The matter of passing the map in Ranchi is still going on in the High Court. On the other hand, due to non-availability of tenders for sand ghats, there has been a shortage of sand. Only 23 sand ghats are operational across the state. Whereas, not a single sand ghat is operational in Ranchi. Somehow sand is being found in Ranchi, so its cost is skyrocketing. Presently, the cost of sand has gone up to Rs 28 to 30 thousand per highway. At the same time, the price of 709 trucks of sand has also increased to about six thousand rupees. Significantly, in the light of the NGT directive, the ban on extraction of sand becomes effective from June 10. In such a situation, the Chief Secretary has instructed all the districts to start sand extraction after completing the tender 20 days before and to stock sand, so that there is no shortage of sand in the rainy season.

Sales of other goods including cement rods fell by 30-50 percent

These days, from common people to builders who build big buildings are also worried. Work has come to a standstill at many places. This has a direct impact on the sale of construction materials. C&F sellers of cement and rods say that sales of rods have declined by about 50 percent and cement sales by about 30 percent due to the halt and slow pace of construction work.

“Cement price stable”

The vendors say that the price of cement is stable. Presently it is getting Rs.340 to 370 per bag. Whereas, the prices of rods have come down. At present, the rods are available at Rs 60 to 70 per kg. Whereas, a month ago it was getting Rs 65 to 74 per kg. Currently ballast is available at Rs 7,000 per turbo. A month ago, the demand for ballast was 100 to 150 small and big ballast every day in Ranchi. Presently it has reduced to 50 to 60 small and big vehicles.
