Lucknow: The result of the UP civic elections will come on Saturday. Counting of votes will start in all the districts from 8 am. A total of 83372 candidates contested for 14521 posts in 760 civic bodies. Out of these, the fate of 17 mayors, 1420 municipal councilors, 198 municipal council presidents, 5327 members, 544 city panchayat presidents, 7178 members is to be decided.

Municipal elections were announced on 8 April

Municipal elections in UP were announced on 9 April. The first phase of polling was held on 04 May. In this, votes were cast for 37 districts of nine divisions. In the second phase, on May 11, votes were cast in the remaining nine mandals and 38 districts. In urban areas, votes were cast from EVMs for 17 mayors and 1420 councilors of Municipal Corporation. While voting was done by ballot in Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats.

Duty of 35 thousand employees for counting of votes

Manoj Kumar told that 353 counting centers have been set up for total 760 urban bodies for counting of votes in various districts of the state. About 35 thousand personnel have been deployed for counting of votes in all the districts of the state. Instructions have been given to deploy necessary police and PAC jawans as well as mobile teams of PAC in all the districts for adequate necessary security in the counting work.

Ambulance and fire brigade also at counting center

He told that instructions have been given to make arrangements for generators for adequate lighting at the counting centers. Fire brigade and ambulance will be stationed at each counting center to avoid accidental incidents. On the other hand, Special DG Law and Order Prashant Kumar told that the instructions of the Election Commission will be followed on the procession. Duty of officers has been imposed in three shifts
