The results of the Karnataka assembly elections will be revealed on May 13. As Congress is emerging as the single largest party in all the exit polls, despite most of the polls showing a hung assembly in Karnataka. In such a situation, now no party is underestimating the role of JDS. If no party gets absolute majority in Karnataka, then JDS can play the role of king maker. This is the reason, Kumaraswamy’s JDS has told about contacting him through BJP-Congress.
JDS claims – indications of talks received from Congress BJP
JDS says, they are getting signs of talks from Congress and BJP. JDS senior leader Tanveer Ahmed said that it has been decided with whom the partnership will be done. In fact, in an interview to NDTV, senior JDS leader Tanveer Ahmed told that ‘the decision has been taken. When the right time comes, we will announce it in front of the public.
Keeping an eye on both Congress-BJP for the betterment of the state- JDS
He said that the people of Karnataka want us to keep an eye on both the national parties for the betterment of the state. But, I don’t see any reason why regional parties would not want to work for the development of Karnataka.
Government will not be formed without us – JDS
In response to the question of how many seats the party will win, Ahmed said that ‘without us no one can form the government’. I think it would be a good number. We could not compete with national parties in terms of money, power, muscle power. We were a weak party. But, we know that we have worked hard to be a part of the government.
BJP refused
However, BJP leader Shobha Karandlaje said that there will be no question of alliance. BJP will form the government with absolute majority. Rejecting the talk of contacting JDS outright, he said that BJP is going to win at least 120 seats in the state.
