New Delhi, May 13 (Hindustan Times). Gujarat Titans (GT) all-rounders Rashid Khan and Alzarri Joseph shared the second-highest partnership in T20 cricket for the ninth wicket against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday. Rashid Khan played a brilliant unbeaten inning of 79 runs from 32 balls, however, despite his innings, Mumbai Indians won by 27 runs.

Rashid also became the fourth batsman in the IPL to score a fifty while batting at number eight or below. The first batsman to do so was Harbhajan Singh (64) against Punjab Kings in IPL 2015. Next up was South African all-rounder Chris Morris for Delhi Capitals (52) against Mumbai during IPL 2017. Later, Pat Cummins (66) hit a half-century for KKR against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2021.

Talking about the match, Mumbai won this match by 27 runs. Batting first, Mumbai scored 218 for 5 wickets in 20 overs thanks to Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten century innings of 103 runs. In reply, Gujarat could manage only 191 for 8 in 20 overs despite Rashid Khan’s unbeaten 79 off 32 balls. During this, Rashid hit 10 sixes and three fours.
